“Oh yes,” Willise replies, “You’re one hundred percent right “
I continue away – on a roll now, “How come I’ve got to sit in this office and defend myself and that sunnabitching three-striper and the Air Police people go Scott free? “Well, said the colonel, “the guard says you were sneaking around and kept trying to sneak up on him.” I respond, “Oh bullshit!” Continuing, “So don’t send me out on guard checks anymore. Send me home. Get me a transfer. But whatever you do I’m tired of unadulterated horseshit for doing the job I was ordered to do!” I stopped, before I went too far and totally lost whatever cool I had left. “OK, OK, Lynn! OK, Enough. I’ll back you up. I just wanted to see if we could work something out.” “Well, you can’t,” I replied, still in a tantrum.
An hour later, Col. Willsie came by my scope (MY God – he was actually made an appearance in the Dark Room) where I was busy monitoring BUFFs and said, “I mentioned what we talked about to the commander, and he said he’d back you.” I say a quiet “thanks” but think, “Big Fucking Deal.”

Captain Mon, the VNAF Operations Officer, asked me into his office to tell me he was putting me in for a “Vietnamese Honor Medal First Class,” because he liked “how I work with the Vietnamese.” I thank him. I’m very flattered. Now if I could get some respect from my own Air Force US Types, I’d be all set.
Hunter 11, an F4, is missing. We had him feet wet for a handoff to DaNang Approach, but DaNang never got him. He’s disappeared without a trace.
1–10 December 1972
It’s December. Looked outside. Yup, we’re still in Vietnam. Diplomats in Parris are endlessly debating a Vietnam ceasefire:
